Chainalysis, the leader in blockchain intelligence, and Chainalysis Government Solutions (CGS), Chainalysis’ wholly-owned subsidiary focused on U.S. government customers, today announced that part of the company’s Crypto Investigations solution – has achieved an In Process designation from the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP®) and is now listed in the FedRAMP marketplace. The Chainalysis Crypto Investigations solution is powered by Chainalysis data and is used by law enforcement, intelligence, national security, tax, and regulatory agencies to discover leads, analyze illicit activity, pursue threats, and ensure market integrity in the digital assets space.
FedRAMP is a U.S. federal government-wide compliance program that promotes the adoption of secure cloud products and services across U.S. federal agencies by providing a standardized approach to security assessment and authorization. The FedRAMP In Process designation indicates a company has undergone a rigorous security assessment that was reviewed and approved by the FedRAMP Program Management Office, and is currently working toward a FedRAMP Authorization alongside its federal government sponsor. A FedRAMP Authorization, or Authority to Operate (ATO), signifies an offering meets a comprehensive set of security controls designed to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of government data.
Chainalysis is the first and only blockchain analytics provider to obtain a FedRAMP In-Process designation. This milestone is an important step towards ensuring that CGS’s customers are able to use the Chainalysis Crypto Investigations solution to gain mission-critical intelligence and take action against crypto-related threats in a FedRAMP authorized cloud environment. These efforts are also continued external validation of Chainalysis’ commitment to security, following Chainalysis’ achievement of SOC 2 Type II Compliance.
“This FedRAMP In Process designation is another demonstration of our commitment to the U.S. public sector and their critical missions – missions that make the world safer and that are aided by our solutions,” said Kevin O’Brien, President of Chainalysis Government Solutions. “The rigor with which we approach our infrastructure and security is at the core of this designation, and is the same approach we’ve taken with our data to ensure its reliability for our customers.”
“The stringent process required for FedRAMP makes it the gold standard for data security and integrity, not just among those that work with the U.S. government, but among public and private sector organizations globally,” said Omesh Agam, Chief Information Security Officer at Chainalysis. “Through this process, our team has proven the technical security of our solutions and data, including the system architecture, the authorization boundary, data flows, and core security capabilities. Our customers can trust that all of their interactions and data are securely isolated within a protected boundary and therefore held to the highest standards of confidentiality, integrity, and availability, in line with FedRAMP requirements.”
From disrupting national security threats including terrorism financing campaigns, ransomware groups that attack critical infrastructure, and North Korea-linked attackers, to tracking the global trafficking of fentanyl precursors and detecting suspicious trading patterns, Chainalysis equips governments around the world with the data and solutions needed to investigate illicit activity and gain meaningful intelligence from on-chain data. Since its founding in 2014, Chainalysis has helped in the recovery of more than $11 billion in illicit funds and tracked nearly $25 billion in transactions by illicit addresses. Chainalysis counts more than 1,300 customers globally, including nearly 300 in the public sector.
